well last time what went back up was a ford 8.8 but still the subframe comes off easy thats my point and way more room to work with it out then on 2 jack stands

drop the diff and ppf together...pull it from under the car...infinite room to work with.

So you broke your stud off in your rear end?

Braineack 04-22-2010 10:53 AM

too bad you couldn't say he busted a nut off in his rear end...

it's a bolt BTW.

I took the PPF with the rear end together, put everything back on except for the PPF cause I need to go get the angle grinder from my house to cut the bolt off. I think I got riped off :( I spun the drive shaft by hand and both wheels moved but as soon as I held one axle with my hand the drive shaft would keep spinning but the axles wouldn't. I think this rear end is blown like the one I just took out....Is the any other way to tell if it's not broken unless I take it appart?

they should rotate in opposite directions.

I learned from a guy who used to work at a auto parts store on removing difficult bolts.

Get a sledge hammer, penetrating oil and hammer that beech good a few solid times (of course do not destroy anything on its path) and it should let loose.

It has worked for me many times when removing axles, another thing is by using a torch, heat up the metal parts and try unbolting it.

^Yup... it is rare that a bigger breaker bar is the answer.
More PBBlaster.
More Liquid Wrench.
Impact Gun.
Heat.
Interval tapping.
More PBBlaster.

I've never heard of anybody popping the head off a PPF bolt... but a 5ft breaker bar would do it, as it might with any bolt.

I broke it without a breaker bar just a 1/2" socket set, I pulled like a mother fucker and it broke loose. Next thing I know the head is in my hand

sounds like a bad masterbatory experience imo

Lest anyone think I was serious about attacking a stuck bolt with a 5 ft breaker bar, I should mention that the bolt in my pic had already been drenched several times with Liquid Wrench penetrating oil and then again with PB Blaster. I like using the longer cheater bar as I can apply the force more carefully rather than yanking on a shorter bar.
