Blown tein? Good?
I didn't notice any oil around it. Read and saw people pushing on it to see if it's blown. How do these look?

Very little resistance to compression is usually a sign of a bad shock. My basics were quite difficult to compress.
I would call those shocks worn, but still okay, since they rebound. I would start looking for replacements, they are not long for this world. How old are they? |
Well the are twin tubes so they dont exactly work when they're upside down. (unless those are monoflex). I'd say good riddance, that junk isnt worth rebuilding.
|
Yeah I'm no expert on coilover.
Are you saying that pushing them Not upside down would give different results? I basically got them for free. Sort of. But I have them now. I'm tempted to replace my 20 year old shock and spring with these. |
Yeah with how twin tubes are setup inside they dont act as a shock correctly when upside down. The gas mixes with the shock oil and well yeah thats bad.
|
You're telling him teins are crap? GTFO
|
They are. The damping rates are terrible and they so inconsistent its not even funny
|
Well I'll probably use them instead of my stock old ass suspension.
But any more knowledge on this topic anyone wants to throw in here. Because I'm sure not inspired to go researching more about suspension. |

The FM stuff is pretty good. There are better choices for the money
|
What about the FM stuff makes it not good? What are the better choices for the money?

What dampers do you run, Mr. Leafy? :jerkit: |
I'm gonna LOL if he says AST's... Because then he's right.
|
Lower end Tein's aren't anything to write home about, not saying they are awful, but in general twin tubes=kid shit
Leafy isn't trolling he's right. You can get bilsteins that are mono-tube for similar or less money and rebuilds on those are cheap and plentiful (Our buddy stewart isn't the only option). |

Is there a little oil or a lot? It's normal for some oil to week past the seal, especially on shit shocks, but it doesn't mean they're done. |

That would be correct, 5100's to be precise. Wish I had dropped the extra coin initially to get the 5200's because the upgrade from 5100 to 5200 is about a grand more than I though it would be.

And the LOL's begin. Those make my Monoflex shocks feel like Hustler around Emilio.
Blown stock shocks or AST. The only options. :inout: |
For that daily drive non-serious auto-xer FM stuff is a great choice, its good stuff for what it is.

Before your edit, you said it was NOT GOOD, with better choices for the money. Please explain what the better choices are. |
