Ok so back to the questions at hand:

1) Is there a difference REALLY between the two kits? I notice that V8R doesn't have any weird ad copy concerning coilovers.

2) Will either be able to hit Xidas recommended heights?

Develop parts that keep the miata torsen alive. Support caps or whatever, like the big hp s2000 crowd does.

Doesnt someone already sell billet bearing caps, and I know there's already the crush sleeve eliminator kits. But there's only so much you can do. I was at the jersey pro last year when joefis grenaded a torsen with like 160hp, it ripped up all the lsd inside gears, not the R&P. Probably the strongest you're going to get the stock diff is to use an MSM OSG to get the MSM axles, a crush sleeve eliminator and billet bearing caps with extra high strength bolts.

The point is... i'm working with a 1.6 car that currently has no rear end in it.

By the time i pay for an MSM rear assembly with an OSG, a ratio that works, and a way to mount it sans PPF, i've spent ALL THE MONEY and i could have gotten the entire 8.8 setup up and running, and it stands a much better chance of living through what i'm going to throw at it.


So yeah. This is why i made a thread with my concerns about the 8.8 setups on the market.

Yep! If i was starting with a 1.8 Torsen car, i'd consider rolling the dice on the 3.308 group buy, but then i'd be pretty much locked into a 6spd, which i know i'll shred.

If i stick with Miata stuff, i have to compromise between strength vs. gearing, and more likely, both at once, and that sounds awful.

Muffler? Not gonna run that. Sounds heavy.

I'm already going to have to do some creative exhaust routing with the 8.8 anyways due to size.

The problem with the Speedway IRS in this scenario is that there isn't a bolt in off-the-shelf solution, and i'm not a fabricator.

Sounds like a good part to start fabricating on. Since you know, the F2T is such a bolt in solution for an engine and doesnt require you to make an intake manifold and oil pan.
