Default Wilwoods ordered, all your brakes are belong to us

Well, I had EBC Green Stuff brakes fitted before I got turbo'd and it was doubtful if they'd be enough post-turbo on the track.

Fortunately, I will never get to tell because even before my first track day, I had trouble with my left front caliper getting stuck and running hot. My silver 6UL looks bronze from it...

Turned out _not_ to be the slider pins, but the piston that is all rusty. It is patched (sanded, lubed) for now so I can street drive it for another week, but I also ordered the full Wilwood set from FM w/track pads.

The are going to be fitted the 30th, cannot wait!

those are the brakes dreams are made of. oh and also, try not to smack your face on the windshield the first week you have them.

I GUARANTEE you will be doing panic stops EVERYWHERE because they're so awesome.

When you get them on let me know much clearance you lose with them, I know my current wheels (13's) won't fit over a BBK but if I stick with my current plans (V8) I'm going to need more brakes and I'd like to stick with the smallest wheels possible.

V.4? I'd order them but rotors are so ******* expensive. :(

V4? Its the FM kit, only one that I know of. Goodwin has V1-4 IIRC. I wanted to replace my brakes once and only once.

FM has a cut-out template on their site. Download and print that, stick it on cardboard and go out and see. I don't want to ruin your day by giving you wrong clearance information.

how do they have more bite or hold more heat than sport rotors? Why are the replacement rotors only $150 each?

FM is, I think, V3. the difference is RacingBrake rotors instead of Disc Brakes Australia rotors.

Yeah, with version 3 you're missing out on the "Kangaroo Paw" venting RAWR!

+1. I bought theses and put them on the front of my miata. They' have about 50% more stopping power than stock, but overall I'm still not impressed. Initial "bite" sucks. Like they have to get up to temp to work decent. Yet they're supposed to be a street pad with bite from cold on up, and be quiet. Hehe, they squeak like a garbage truck. And the wear isn't that great either. I'm just overall not impressed with these pads. I guess they're better than stock, but next time I do breaks I'll buy a more racy/aggressive pad. Something semi metallic probably.

I would rather drink a bottle of Super-inky Syrah and eat a pound of beef tare-tare and spray black-tar **** all over my hawk hp+ than run EBC pads again.

I replace F&R pads with some Hawks HP-plus! Great locking power? haha... but its all good when you need it to stop on a dime.

And overheat in 10min of a 20min track session. Plus the calipers flex ALOT.

You should have just got the Sport fronts and gone with a slotted rotor and some good pads. I would advise going with the Sport front and rear, as it has a bit too much rear bias in it. I'm going with Sport front and non-sport 1.8 rears. I still haven't exceeded the 1.8 front and stock 1.6 rears, but I am running EBCs, not Hawk, so it isn't a surprise.
