Brake pad clips
1 Attachment(s)
I need a little help. I changed out my front brake pads and calipers. The pads were set in the bracket with 4 positioning clips. The new brakes had 4 clips plus a 5th clip that is smaller and different than the others. I don’t know the function of the clip or where to put it. The clip is referenced in mazda’s Diagram attached here. Red arrow points to it. Thanks y’all. |
Looks to me like it might be some kind of wear indicator. :dunno:

I have no idea. It’s a metal clip. But smaller than the 4 brake pad clips. |
Got a photo of the actual thing, not just a fuzzy parts diagram?

Here is a picture. Thanks. |
Those are the wear indicator tabs. The tiny bit of straight metal next to the curled over part skims the rotor and makes the squealing noise to let you know the friction material is gone.

Ahh ok great. I appreciate the confirmation. Thank you. |
All the pads I've used have the wear indicator pin already attached to the pad. Maybe oem pads dont. Donno

These pads will be changed long before they wear out. They are just to get the car going. |
