brake upgrades on a 2001 sport with ABS

Is there need for a brake propotion valve or not?

I found this from an earlier post.:

Now, ABS. With the 2001+ Sport brakes, Mazda lets the ABS do 100% of the proportioning. What looks like a proportioning valve in those cars is nothing more than a pass-through. In earlier cars, Mazda used a valve but gave a little more bias to the rears to start off with.

Lokking to upgrade to Ksport 13" or Wilwood brakes at the front. Have to run the stock brakes at the back because of the e-brake. If I find a way to keep the e-brake, the rear brakes will be upgraded as well. But for the moment only the front brakes will be upgraded. So, is the original brake propotional valve good enough to adjust the preassure on the rear brakes? Another thing I can think of is to remove the ABS unit and just use the FM brake propotinal valve.

I don't think you would need a proportion valve for that. I've never heard of anyone using them, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.. Just more money to spend
