Spare Tire - Big Brake - Fit?
Son and I installed the M-Tuned big brake kit last spring on my 96 M (comes with 15" wheels).
We didn't even think to test-fit the space-saver spare to see if it would clear the larger rotors.
Just tried.
Nope. Not even close.
Anyone know if any later-model Miata spare will clear the M-Tuned big brake kit (Corrado rotors up front, MSM in back)?
If not, it's fix-a-flat, tire plug kit, and baby compressor in lieu of a spare tire....

On 01-02 sport brake cars, they came with a 15" spare to clear the OE sport brakes. The brakes and larger spare were standard on all 03-05 Miatas. These larger spares should clear your BBK.
But the real solution would be, if you had a flat on the front, to jack up the whole side, pull both tires off, put the rear on the front and put the spare on the rear.

Looks like I'm breaking into my sister's house and stealing her MSM spare. Everyone should call 949 and have a 1-hour conversation about which spare tires fit over their BBK, Emilio enjoys these types of phone calls.

I am aware that the difference in diameter can effect a torsen LSD, but it shouldn't if you get the problem fixed right away. Mazda knows this or else they wouldn't put a spare in the trunk and would have a can of puncture seal and a air compressor. If you're lazy and keep rolling on a spare, you deserve the consequences 
When I go out for a smoke, I'll consult the owner's manual to see if it suggests always having the spare on the front. My personal solution is having a backup set of wheels in the garage and if something were to happen, I'd find a way home to grab two of them. On road trips I've carried the spare for a "must have" (total wheel failure) emergency along with puncture sealant, plug kit and a compressor for an minor problems.

Fix-A-Flat + AAA + plug kit = I've never actually had a flat on the miata.
Oddly though, I have run 10 psi in the old RT215 Azenis and it just felt a little squirrely. those sidewalls are STIFF.

Factory wheel will not fit over rear MSM BBK now.
So, MSM factory spare will fit over rear MSM rotor with M-Tuned BBK?
Call me nervous, but my last flat was a ruptured sidewall...hard for fix-a-flat to help with that. Since then I try to keep a spare handy....

310,000 miles on my miata and never had a tire issue that I needed a spare to deal with the situation. I have AAA, a cel phone, and a can of fix-A-flat. never used a spare tire in 30 years of driving cars. The only tires that ever got flats that destroyed the tires were Run-flats on the mini.

Interesting. When I ordered mine I was told I couldn't buy an uneven amount (Gen2.) But I think that was when I was looking at one of the other sources, besides 949. Wish I had picked up a spare...not to carry in back (would it even fit) but as a pothole bashing replacement.
