Check these wheels out:

And for those of you on CR.net don't bust my balls for double posting I just know that they know more about the weird Japense wheels and shit than most people here.

So i had to drive my mother's suzuki to Richmond, VA today (about an hour from where i live) and there were some wheels the mechanics said i HAD to see. They're marked as Enkei's and there is a set of 5..here's the weird part..there are TWO tires on the rim...two seperate rims in ONE PIECE...they're two 125/50/16 tires on ONE RIM, here's some pictures, all i had today was a cell but i'll get better pictures when i have to go bck next week...i've got a video too but need to figure out how to get a cell video online.

Aparently they were on a Crown Victoria and it handled like it was ON RAILS, even in the snow rain it stuck like no other (from what i ws told)

The only story i got from them was that goodyear bought all the patents/rights/molds nd destroyed them because it was a "threat to them" but im not sure how true that is either...anyone knows anything feel free to share!

Duallies...

I'd imagine that it did indeed provide some serious grip- spreading the lateral load of cornering across two sets of sidewalls should result in each tread remaining more flat. I have to wonder what it did for ride quality- both from said aforementioned stiffness and also from weight.

Those are TwinTires. Here is a vid showing some being dismounted:

What a pain in the A$$ that was. I wonder if they charge double for mounting the tires?

kotomile 07-20-2008 03:05 PM

If I owned a tire shop, I'd charge double for mounting and quadruple for balancing.. there's no way to hammer on a weight on the inside or use a sticky weight there, so you're stuck with the two outside rims. I would foresee many customers returning with vibration complaints.
