Clutch wont disengage, but no apparent leakds from slave

So about a year ago I replaced my Master cylinder after is started leaking a bit, it would eventually leak out of fluid and the clutch would stop working.

Well today my clutch started feeling shitty and then completely stop working, but what is unusual is that the reservoir still has plenty of fluid in it and neither the slave nor the master seem to be leaking anyway (but I did notice the fluid is a bit dark).

So anyway, Is it possible or likely that the slave is bad even thoight it is not leaking? or is it something worse (like my throwout bearing for instance )

Yes. I've had them seem to not be leaking. After changing it the problem was solved. I think I'm on my 5th slave cylinder cumulatively.

Tried bleeding it recently? Could be the slave, fork, TOB. But start with the cheap external stuff.

Im going to go pick up a new slave while the parts house is still opened, and replace and bleed it tonight. Hopefully itll fix it.

Have a friend push the clutch and watch the arm on the tranny. See if it moves alot. Then you know.

i would bet it is the slave. Usually the throwout bearing would make all kinds of growling or crazy noises when going out..

Slave cylinder. Same thing happened to me.

I replaced the slave, flushed it all out with new fluid, and it feels much better and evry different.
i think maybe my clutch as been slowly getting shitty for like the past year or two, i forgot what it felt like when it was working right, haha.

how's the engagement point? it might need to be adjusted?

Full_Tilt_Boogie 11-02-2009 07:23 PM

well before it wouldnt disengage until it was nearly on the floor

but now it disengages almost immediately (towards the upper part of the pedal stroke)
does that sound about right?

Well usually if a clutch is good it picks up more towards the bottom. But I have driven forever with them engaging and disengaging high. I'd just drive it till it slips. You mainly want to know it is fully engaged when the clutch is out. So you don't slip it.

You should be fine. I've never readjusted a hydralic clutch. Can you even adjust it? i don't remember any adjustment on it?
