Default Help me pick a cat.

While im under the car changing out the clutch I have decided to dump the factory cat in favor of something that flows better.

I know the majority popular choice on the site is metal core. What I dont know is what brand, how many cells, and where to buy it.

Could you guys help me out with those questions?

Keep in mind I need to pass emissions.

Also.

Would these flanges work with a Begi DP and Enthuza Exhaust?

you can probably get jason of begi to send you the flanges you need.

if it were me? I'd get a magnaflow metal core spun cat. IIRC it's 300 cells, should pass with flying colors.

^ and charge me three times what the flange is really worth.

Ill have to see if performance peddler has that in stock. Are the size of the universal cats, well universal, meaning it will fit under the car and between the pipes after the flanges are added or there is a specific one I have to be looking for?

http://www.car-sound.com/02product/d...niversal=59956

Which one?

Im guessing the second one.

Does it come exactly as the picture or it has some pipe to work with on the ends? Basically will my guy have to weld on pipe to the ends to get it to work on the car?

yeah, if it were me, i'd go with the 59956. Overall length is only 8 inches....shouldn't have any trouble fitting it. Price online shows $112. Email them for better pricing....Magnaflow has MAP (minimum advertising price) policies. acutally seems they have a pop up box now when you add it to the cart....submit a low ball offer

yeah, probably have to weld a length of pipe on at least one side, and cut the pipe on the weird angles.

Are you kidding me? Try Autozone or Checker. FYI, the stock cat outlet gasket is 2.5in.

I just feel like a tool because instead of saying to myself "oh hey, lets see who offers prebuilt cats", I automatically assumed based on all the talk that everyone builds there own. I know I know, ignorant way to think especially with the experience i have with this forum, but I just cant explain the brain fart.

Got the cat installed. The car is now a little bit louder then with the stocker. Seems to more responsive and maintains target boost better too.

I haven't yet logged to see if spool improved, but it seems that it got better in 2nd and 3rd.
