Comp. clutch stage 3 question
 

Hey,

Just joined the forum so little introduciton, just boosted my '91 NA with your "standard" td04, rx8 injectors etc. setup.
Build is completed and I did a test drive, nothing leaked so that's good but I noticed 2 strange things with the clutch.

1. The clutch grabs right at the bottom of the pedal, when I lift my foot up the slightest it grabs and rolls.. With my OEM clutch it was around half way where it's supposed to be.
2. Shifting is really hard/stiff, before it was butter smooth and went in all gears no problem, now I really have to force it in there, like really force it.. I filled up the separate part where the shifter goes with oil too.

Btw, using a 1.8 flywheels since my 1.6 won't work.
Any of you know how I can fix this? I might've missed something you guys probably know. According to the description it should be close to OEM.. This doesn't feel even close.

Thanks alot, def gonna try that out. Anything you can think of regarding the heavy shifting?

clutch is not disengaging fully, making for hard shifts.
adjust it properly and all will be well.

changing fluid and slave cylinder is good. but you need to have the clutch pedal adjusted so it releases the clutch fully once the pedal is at the floor, which right now it sounds like its not releasing the clutch fully, making for hard shifts.

If you're also going to do that, I suggest you replace the OEM "squirly" clutch line that goes from the hard line on the firewall to the slave. Makes it much easier to bleed then trying to get all the air out of the curled up OEM line.

Thanks for the tip! But going after the fluids should help with disengaging problem? Or how can I adjust the engaging the best?

i would troubleshoot in the following steps:

1. new fluid and a good bleeding to get all air out
if this did not help

if did not help
3. new slave cylinder and braided clutch line, and repeat 1&2.

Confirm that you have about 3/4" travel at the tip of the slave actuator going from no pedal pressure to floored.

It is not the fluid. It is your clutch Rod adjustment as was indicated. You introduced a new part and must adjust everything to work correctly just like we all have to do every single time. Don't make this more complicated than it has to be.

It was indeed the rod at the paddle. It's alot better now, just needs some fine tweaking.
