.... Where's your cup that goes over your mount?

Lost them when I last pulled the motor. Far as I have found they provide hear shield from the exhaust, but the car can be without them.

concealer404 12-30-2013 02:05 PM

Oh. That's all i've got, unfortunately.

You installed these mounts because your old mounts were broken, right? Could it be that now that the motor is in the correct position, your down-pipe is making contact with the transmission tunnel, or steering shaft? You might have corrected one issue, but created another by getting the motor back into the correct position.

I am in the area of 441 and Oakland Park Blvd. I work in the Opa Locka/Hialeah area though (47th Ave and the Palmetto).

This is what I was alluding to earlier. Maybe the vibrations are caused by something else that happened at the same time, making you think it's directly related to the motor mounts? Downpipe making contact on something, lug nuts not torqued, etc.

I would refer you to your own signature. I can definitely empathize with that experience.

Good point. The driver side was definitely not in good condition. Which is where I'm getting all the vibration from. The steering column looks clear I'm going to see about the downpipe now.

Damn thats far from me. I'm all the way in west kendall. I'll keep you posted if anything. Thanks

EDIT: You nailed it. The downpipe is in contact with the car. So what are my options besides using a hammer?

MX5RACER 12-30-2013 02:46 PM

I think it might be hammer-time... You can try to wedge a long pry tool between the downpipe and the trans-tunnel?

Leafy 12-30-2013 02:47 PM

Hammer time.

curly 12-30-2013 03:42 PM

The cups also raise the engine by 1/8". You might be dealing with issues related to that.

buffon01 12-30-2013 03:56 PM

Hammer time no worky. At least not where I am now. I barely have any tools here. I'm gonna have to wait till I get back to orlando to try to make space. I managed to get a tiny bit of clearance and it seems to be working for now.

Know of anything that will lowered it by that amount, that would be perfect lol

What?

The metal cups, the ones you're missing. Without them, your engine is currently lowered by about 1/8-1/4". They're fairly thick.

Replace them with washers of the same thickness, or buy some cups from someone parting a car out on the forums.

It was a joke. I need clearance between the car and the downpipe. Raising the car won't help. I don't have the cups anyway.
