So I will be putting in an ACT HD one of these months.

The car has over 140,000 miles or 237,000kms.

I doubt it's the stock clutch so I don't know whats been done with the stock seals when the clutch was changed.

If the main or tranny seals are not leaking should I leave them alone and slowly walk away quietly as not to disturb them?

If my main or tranny seals are leaking I will replace of course.

If I do them is it strictly OEM brand or is there something else cheaper but still reliable? Who has the best prices?

This is my 1st clutch job ever on an automobile. All my previous clutch jobs have been wet style.

What else should I look at replacing while the tranny is out ?

Do the seals but do them well. Only use OEM for the crank seal.

I use OEM seals because they are pretty cheap for what they are. I would definately replace the throw out bearing while I'm in there. In all honestly, its not too difficult just a bit time consuming. So I rather would just do the job once and not touch it. :P

I'm pretty sure I have a 10% off local dealers due to my workplace. If you need something, albeit the discount isn't alot but still helps. Give me a shout

Rear main is easy, and you should definitely do it. When they go they go fast, and you can't tell by looking.

Use the old seal, underneath a board to tap the new one home after you've lubed it liberally.

I've never done the tranny seal, I fail.

Buying from the US and shipping up here is still usually a 25-50% savings. I mean it shouldn't be but it is.

Can you pm me the main seal, tranny output seal and the thowout and pilot bearing price. Sadly (not really) I have not bought a dealer part in almost 10 years because of ebay and great forums like this.

How about the other end of the tranny the driveshaft side - never mind I guess that can be done even if its mounted. Ahh Rear Wheel Drive - the only way to fly! Even my motorbike is rear wheel drive ! Who would have thought of that!

Do the rear main, both ends of the tranny, the throwout bearing, and the pilot bearing or expect to take everything apart halfway to your next clutch change to do it all. Buy Mazda parts and get them from Rosenthal Mazda/Finishline (google it) for really good prices and immediate (in stock) shipping. Pick up a pair of the upgraded window washer squirters while you are on their site. They are much better than stock.

Read Samnavy's writeup on clutch replacement on this forum to avoid pitfalls/common problems. It's a really good how-to.
