Do I need helper springs?

Reading about "coilovers" for my NB and wish to heck that I had the budget for Xida and I might be inclined to wait but know I need something other than the set-up on my MSM that has 156k on them and terrible rebound properties.

Helper springs seem like a great feature on coilovers in theory, esp. for a vehicle that will see some high speed HPDE and much daily driving. But the choices for "coilovers" that also carry a helper spring seem few and far between (sad about the Tecnas).

Will I miss this feature if I go without? Have people seen issues with drop on their NBs running 15x8 wheels with high performance street tires (like R1Rs) that they noticed went away after running with helper springs?

I had ASTs on my STi when I was doing open lapping on that chassis and those had helper springs but I can't say that vs. stock I noticed a difference in handling that I could point to as being due to this feature (maybe that is a bad example).

[and is it me or are some companies bashing helper springs on some set-ups by comparing to their tender springs which are for very different purposes?]

Cheers.

You can buy them later but that would mean taking them off the car to swap the springs on. If you are running really high spring rates then It might be a good idea to get them.
