Engine mounts
Hey
I saw that fab9 had some engine mounts for sale on their website. Are they really worth the money when you can buy poly to the oem mounts for 1/10 of the price? |
What mounts are they? (include a link) What do you use your car for? What car do you have? Why do you want new engine mounts? Which alternatives are you speaking of?

Hi acedeuce802
Im turbocharging my NA 1.8L goal is around 230whp this season and might build motor and go for more later on. The car will be used on street&track. Mine is worn and ive the engine out of the car right now so might as well change them. I saw that AWR racing makes the mounts that FAB9 sell: https://fab9tuning.com/performance-engine-mounts/ (270£ in europe) Here is the Polyurethane mount: https://www.duraflexpubushes.com/maz...unts-368-p.asp (37£) Is the stock mount itself weak in any point at horsepower ranges between 200-350? |
Yeah sorry I saw that they're not 10x more expensive, but still a big difference in price :P

The issue with OEM mounts' longevity isn't necessarily the material, but the design.
Going to a poly copy of the same flawed design (for track use) sounds like putting lipstick on a pig. I'd suggest going with the AWR mounts that Fab9 sells, but would suggest buying them directly from AWR, since they'll be drop shipped from AWR anyways. |

Take a look at this if you think of buying the cheap ones:

If you want lower NVH but all the gains, the BlackBird FabWorx street mounts are the way to go. Only slightly more vibes than the Mazda Comp mounts and much less than the AWRs. I've got them on my MSM and it helps so much with shifting. Had them on for about 2.5 yrs now.

Ok thank you. To avoid tax, import fee's & shipping from USA (they can easy be 440$ with all that payed) i think 270£ from England sounds like a steal.

FWIW, I went with the SuperMiata "hybrid mouth kit" that consists of the MazdaComp driver's side, and the SuperMiata passenger side mount (70 duro).
https://supermiata.com/Supermiata-hy...tor-mount.aspx NVH is definitely increased, but not unbearable....but will have you going thru some of the car to find/tighten/dampen areas of noise from the vibrations. I "found" a fairly noisy driver's side door panel, and the hardtop tends to make a bit of noise at idle with the a/c on. |
