Which Exedy clutch is the go?

I have a 1.6 Toda chromoly flywheel and I'm a bit confused as to which Exedy clutch to pair it to?

Power output will be 250whp absolute tops on a boosted NB 1.8. Not sure what peak torque would be but whatever an upgraded compressor wheel MSM turbo puts out at 12psi, so probably not much. :giggle:

Daily driven so something organic, and it would be good if it didn't make the leg muscles bigger in your left leg...

What are you guys rocking?

Cheers

The first clutch I put in my turbo '94 was an Exedy Stage 1. I went with it because I had great luck with the same model on my DET Sentra making ~260whp. It never slipped, had a slightly heavier than stock pedal effort, and it was easy on the tranny (the fwd Nissans have a "glass" 3rd gear) so I was very happy with the setup. On the Miata it also had a nice pedal effort however I found out that in this application it can't handle nearly the same power level. I was probably about 200whp and the clutch would slip very badly when launched aggressively. I drove with it about a year and then it started slipping under boost in 5th gear all the time. When I dropped the tranny I found that the disc was almost worn to the rivets and my Fidanza friction ring had gotten so hot that it cracked nearly in half on one side.

I replaced the Exedy with an ACT XT/6 puck sprung disc. I drove it for a couple months with no problems and then sold the car when I bought my 10AE. The new owner is a member here who does hill climbs and as far as I know the clutch is still working great. I'm in the process of procuring all the parts I need to boost my new car and I went with the same ACT clutch again.

What did you end up using Saboteur?

I have the 1600 organic Exedy disc with a modified pressure plate for extra clamping force. It's not in the car yet as the engine is still in bits!

Pressure plate mods were done by Direct Clutch in Albion.

Any reason you didn't go for a lightened 1.8 flywheel? More surface area?

Which car are you doing?

Tried to call ya!

I have a Toda 1600 flywheel, not keen on the large blocks on the very outer edge of the 1800 one.

I have just the street registered NB now.
