Exedy stage 2 clutch info?

So I have been trying to search all over the place for more info on this clutch. I like it because it is not organic or kevlar, is from a reputable company, and I THINK should be more than sufficient for my power goals and use, and price is very reasonable. From what I could find it appears that honda guys are able to hold around the ~290whp, although their discs are 220mm in dia. vs 200mm for 1.6l and 215mm for 1.8l. I was hoping to switch to a 1.6l clutch and flywheel to shave an extra pound or two. My thought was that while the stage 2 1.8l version may have more clamping force; the 1.6 should still have ample clamping force for my power level and use.

SETUP: I am should be around 220whp 200tq, and primarily Autocrossing, with maybe a couple of drag races. I will be running 225 RS3's primarily and a Torsen 4.3 (not like that particularly matters). However, it will also be my DD.

I can get a better deal on Exedy than ACT So I dont want to hear how you have an ACT HD :blah: and quite frankly ACT:jerkit:

Now, have any of you guys personally driven an exedy stage 2 ( and I dont mean in some other car)? Im curious to hear opinions, and how the engagment feels since it is essentially a 3 puck. I think it may be overkill for my hp, but maybe not so for its use??

overkill for your setup. you'd be perfectly fine with the ACT HD, Exedy stage I, or FM I

Well I finally found some actually figures for the stage 1 and stge 2 clutchs from exedy. I figured I would post it for future reference.

The Exedy Stage 1 (organic):
1.6l: 125ft/lbs (200mm disk)
1.8l: 168ft/lb (215mm disk)

Exedy Stage 2 (cerametallic):
1.6l: 142ft/lbs (200mm disk)
1.8l: 191ft/lbs (215mm disk)

Which would lead me to believe that it perhaps wont be sufficient, granted I wont be at its holding limit all the time. The stage 1 as is, is insufficient for the power I'm making now let alone in the future.

I've driven a miata with a exedy stage I, here was the power he was making:

he drifted and abused his car, never had an issue.

I have the stage 1 and around that level of hp in my 1.6 it deff. doesn't hold worth a shit.... must be a 1.8 plus the 1.8 is 225mm

It is actually 215mm, I also added that above for clear future reference.

@ Braineack, was that a 1.8 clutch?

I did want to stray away from organic originally because I thought I remember hearing that at the limit, when they begin to slip the organic material will glaze over and then not hold for shit, and pretty much toast!

Is there any truth to that?

I was thinking about the throw out bearing for some reason, my bad
