F1 Chro-Mo Flywheel Woes

Got the FW all bolted up and in the process of torqueing down the PP bolts only to realize that one of the holes wasn't fully threaded :vash: Buyer beware...

Stripped one of the 8x1 PP bolts - any issue with using grade 8.8? Existing bolts have a 10 stamped on them.

Local machine shop didn't have a tap to fit so this is going back to Grip Force. Any issue with removing the pilot bearing and re-installing in new FW?

This is why I do not recommend F1 clutch parts at all. When they work, they are somewhat half-way decent. Unfortunately with the amount of work involved with changing clutch components, I don't want to do it twice. So paying a bit extra for drive train parts is totally worth it to me.

Tapping hard steel is out of my skill set.

Haven't found any reports of F1 flywheels being machined wrong. I figured it was a no brainer. 949 SM clutch is going in.

On a side not Grip-Force was very responsive. Received a return shipping label within an hour of sending them the pic.

I'm not sure what brand my chrome moly flywheel is, but the threads were a different pitch from the factory Mazda flywheel. Trying to find good metric bolts on a Sunday sucked way back when.

My Fidanza is a different pitch from stock.

Just to follow up. Grip force finally sent a new FW with all holes drilled and tapped. OEM pressure plate bolts fit fine. 949 clutch/transmission installed, just waiting for a sunny day to try it out.
