Front upper control arm bushings

I am in the process of installing some energy suspension bushings. Rears went in no problem. Started on the front this morning and i think im running into a problem. When installing the front upper control arms the metsl insert appears to be to long. Just verifying this is correct. Pic below

Steel sleeves are usually longer than the bushing itself to avoid the ears on the subframe pinching the control arm. Just make sure you have the flange on the bushing towards the front of the arm, as that's where the thrust load on the bushing is. Otherwise you'll get metal to metal clunking under braking

As themonkeyman points out, the center steel insert will be the hard, metal to metal mount point, and is thus longer; what I don't see in your photo is the forward insert bushing sholder, like is visible in the photo, at rear. Is it just not showing up, or is it pushed too far into the control arm?

Thanks for clarifying. Just wanted to be sure as all the rear bushings didnt have that much of the steel insert exposed and they all had a bushing installed in each side.

i installed as per the instructions. One bushing, forget the number, then the steel insert with grease. Only had one bushing to install.
