Ohh that's right, my bad. I forgot this happened at a bodyshop.

I guess having access to the lift down at our shop is a pretty good deal if that's the going rate. Still, def worth it if you have a days work lined up to get done. I guess then you just need to hope you don't run into any unexpected issues while under there.

Every little imperfection on the car, they deserve it. raise hell till they fix it for cost of materials or even free. and im glad i have a friend with a paint shop and a lift, looks like you need to expand your friend zone to find someone near you with a lift.

I have a friend who used to run his own shop, only recently has he stopped his lease and moved to an already established shop to work for them. I used his lifts for years to do my own work (and toss him cash for letting me use his shit). Hell, when I replaced the engine last year, got everything in and went to install the slave to find the fork had come undone from the TOB, he came over, loaded my car on a trailer and we used his shop to drop the trans to fix the issue.

The offer I got to use a lift to fix this is from a local business (MazMart), so I think paying $125 to use their lift and their tools and draft my own extra pair of hands is quite reasonable....esp. since they're offering me to use it on a Saturday, a day that they are not usually open for business. It beats the $380 quote I got from another very reputable shop to just have them drop the trans and fix the fork/replace the TOB. I'm just trying to find the cheapest way to get my car moved to MazMart. Calling a tow truck will be the most expensive...trying to find someone with a trailer that might be able to take it over there.


I will be spending some time over the next couple of days removing some stuff under the car so when I get it on a lift I can do the work quickly. This might be a good time for me to try the Motorcraft synthetic trans lube too. Ugh...$60 on fluid though...

Did you pull the tranny yet. It wouldnt suprise me if it wasnt the Clutch fork pivot ball that screws into the front of the transmission that broke to start things. been there done that.

I replaced that when I replaced the engine last year. Somehow or another, I had been driving for quite sometime with a broken pivot bolt. Doubt that it's the problem.

I'm thinking either the TOB took a shit when I was pumping the clutch, got stuck and somehow or another allowed me to put too much pressure on the fork resulting in it cracking. I've bought some new shit- TOB, new Motorcraft SMTL, rebuilt the slave cylinder, new shifter bushing and am now just waiting to pull the trans. this weekend.

Fixed car. Clutch fork was in pieces when the trans came out. Release bearing was trashed/siezed (only a year old OEM part). I have a strong feeling the TOB fucked itself, got jammed on the input shaft and caused the failure. Everything feels K-Y smooth now. Also turns out that I had a shifter bushing in wrong that was fucking up the feeling of my shifter. So between fixing that bushing and using the Ford SMTL, a kitten could shift gears it's so smooth.
