Default MAKERS: Solid steering rack mounts

So I was just reminded recently that about 10 years ago, there used to be a company up in Toronto called RevLab who provided tons of products and services for the Subaru/rally community. This included a lot of machined products from solid outrigger bushings, steering rack mounts and quick steering quickener modifications.

I used to have a very elusive limited production batch of mounts that replaced the bushings and brackets on the steering rack. It was a machined aluminum bracket that took up the inner contour of the compliant bushing, however, there was a straight knurl applied to the surface to allow it to deform just enough as to self-clearance and provide the perfect snug fit.

Since there isn't a Maker section in this forum, and there are several very capable fabricators/machinists/product developers...

Could one throw in a request to see how difficult a product this would be to develop? There are kits for NB's that provide solid bushings on the driver side, but the passenger side is left neglected. Or there are always the urethane bushing replacements for both NA/NB

I can't find my old images as they've disappeared into the bowels of internet archives. Rough idea, but the inner surface would meet the contours of the steering rack with a straight knurl.

They have poly for the NA. Which gets you pretty close.

The NA ones look like a pain in the *** to machine, which is why they are in poly (because they can be cast)

That's why I'm wondering if a delrin counterpart has been machined for NA or NB passenger side. Yea it may have been a pain in the *** to machine the Subaru rack mounts, but that essentially locked the steering rack with near zero compliance. Of course, failure mode moves right to the tie rods and ring/pinion.

Mod's feel free to delete my life. I need coffee and a garage so I can spend more time breaking my car instead making noob posts on the interwebernuts.

I was just looking at my poly bushings, and stamped steel, last week. I hate them, but I thought I was alone. Now my gears are turning. I definitely think I can do something. I build all my stuff manually though, so cost is, well, tough.

When I got my NB rack it didn't come with the bushing or clamp, but I've ordered one from MazdaSpeed. I'll take a look at the feasibility of creating a billet mount, compared to the stiffness of the factory bushing. I'm still surprised that there isn't a poly bushing for that side available from Energy or SuperPro..
