Is there a reason my e-brake only works for three or four days after I change the rear brake pads? Both rear calipers are new, and so is the e-brake cable. Do I need to re-tighten the rear calipers after the pads break in?? I have also tried tightening the e brake cable..

Have you adjusted the ebrake using the adjuster screw on the caliper?

I changed mine and after I set them once they never needed setting again.

Yeah thats the one I am wondering if I need to adjust it again after the pads break in... which seems silly, but I can't think of anything else. I dont want to break another cable from over tightening it

The best I could find about adjusting the calipers themselves was to have the car off the ground with the parking brake on and spin the wheel until she stops while turning the adjuster in. Then back off 1/3rd turn and let er' rip.

Unfortunately when I did mine I found out the drivers side caliper doesn't always release when you give it a good tug.

You sure the e-brake function is actually able to move the caliper and it's not stuck?

The cables are working good and the calipers have been adjusted, but I also started playing with the adjustment on the lever in the car. There was a threshold that if I crossed the drivers side caliper would stay locked on but the passenger would pop free. If I knocked down the tension a few turns the caliper releases. Its probably something internal but for now if I turn down the tension on the cables its working well enough to hold the car still, but not lock the wheels while moving.

umm well ebrake is for emergencys and when stopped on hills using it for ********s is bad. I suggest u get tons of hp and drift that way.

I'm happy it holds the car on a slight incline again instead of parking in gear, but I just wish it had more grip.

Are you adjusting the gear with a 4mm allen key behind the 14mm bolt next to the bolt that holds the cable in place? I just did the brakes on my car this weekend, and I adjusted the brake caliper so that it just started to drag, then backed it off like 1/4 turn. Did that for both sides (albeit after replacing both calipers since one side was frozen and the other had a torn boot and scored piston) and my e-brake works great now.

Thats what I did, I know both my calipers are in good condition, so is the cable. The e brake worked perfectly for a couple days and slowly became useless. I only need it because the parking lot at my work is fairly steep and I hate leaving it in gear on an incline.
