Has anyone used the OBX Diff in the 1.8 housing?
 

I keep seeing the OBX diff on ebay, just wondering if anyone has tried it in a 1.8 housing?

I haven't heard of anyone using the diff in the miata, but I know a bunch of people using the diff in their turbo Honda's. They work really well, but apparently the rule of thumb is to replace all of the bolts in the unit. It's something like the Greddy turbo kit, the bolts they included are crap and break.

I may be picking one up to go in my soon to be 4.10. There is a place online that will sell you a rebuild kit that includes 12.9 grade hardware and new belleville washers for like 36 bucks shipped. If I end up going that route, I plan on doing a write up.

my buddy had one in his N/A rx-7 and drifted in it. Never had a problem with it.

This might be a VERY relevant question to those who are pondering a budget V8 swap and dont want to custom fab a new rear setup too.

That article is great. It looks like the OBX is a different design overall than the Quaiffe. So maybe it is a knock-off of something else, or maybe it is its own design, which would be pretty cool IMHO. Replacing some washers and bolts is not a big deal.

dont forget replacing your diff fluid every motor oil change. did you see those gear teeth!?

Good point. They probably will wear in with a lot of particles, at least at first.

I've put the OBX in my 1.8 4.1 rear end. I also installed the hardware kit Jeff mentioned earlier. I'm running a turbo 1.6 with a 6 speed. So far, I'm happy with it. It handles 180-200 HP and works perfectly. I autox the car and don't baby it on the street.

Where do you get the kit? I have one (bought from someone here), but haven't used it yet.
