Help with clutch issue

Hey guys,

I'm looking for ideas on my wife's red '90 clutch.

I changed her clutch out about 3 months back due to the pilot bearing going.

Everything went well with the swap, and the cars been shifting like a champ until the other day when she called me on her cell at a stop sign saying it didn't want to go back into first.
I had her check the clutch master cylinder level and it was fine.
She drove it home with out a problem.
I rechecked the clutch fluid level when she was home and took it for a boot around the block, I noticed right away that the clutch engages real low (maybe about 1/2 inch off the floor). I never really drive her car but I know it wasn't engaging that low after I did the clutch. I also noticed that when stopped at a light with the clutch in the shifter felt a bit notchy. Once I "rowed" through the gears a couple times at the light the notchiness seemed to go away.

I plan on bleeding the system tomorrow and checking the slave cylinder actuation too. I may also throw in some Redline MT90 and check the turret at the same time.

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

Yup, slave is likely leaking now.

I hope thats what it is. Its cheap and easy for ya..

Good luck bro

Thanks guys,

I am thinking and hoping the slave as well. I guess there really isn't much else it could be anyway. I'll let you know what happens...

Had the same problem before...replaced slave and it was still bad. Replaced master and all the fluid and it was good again. Probably best to do both since the fluid was black anyways.

Well, that was easy :)

As it turned out, one of the two bolts that keep the slave cylinder mounted to the tranny went missing. I found another bolt and she is as good as new...

I ended up putting some nice new Redline 75w90 in the Tranny and Diff. and bled the slave cylinder again while it was on the lift.

I love those nice easy fixes...:giggle:
