Hypercoils Carbon-Composite Spring System

Check this out:

Here's a calculator to figure out what you would need to build a spring stack:

And here's where the info comes from:

At $75 per bellville "washer", this would make for a rediculously expensive set of springs, but one can dream...

Yeah, its around $1500... per corner.

I have those on my daily, they suck.

Cool idea. I work with Bellevilles at work for some motor designs and never thought I'd see them in a car application.

According to the configurator, the overall length would be almost 9 inches for 500lbs/in and 3 in of deflection.

Leafy 10-17-2012 04:46 PM

I get a height of 6.840 if you're willing for your 500 pound springs to only deflect 2.952 inches. Thats for the rear right? The front springs for 500 pound rears dont work though. Unless you're willing to accept less travel. They need stiffer washers.

Honestly, I don't know. I just guessed at 3 inches of travel needed for some end of the car to see what the OAL would be. I've stayed pretty ignorant of how much wheel travel our cars have/how much spring length is needed.

7" front, 8" rear is the most commonly used combination.

What kind of travel range does that give us?
