Lookin' to get a splitter/spoiler
First requirement is that it has to by high-flying. My car is pretty unreliable, I want to be able to push it home like a giant shopping cart if it breaks down.
Second, it has to be chrome. No substitutes.
Third, it has to be completely table flat so there's no downforce so it won't ruin the handling. Like on the Evo! That's a fast car, so it's wing will make my car fast, right?
That's all, thoughts?
In all seriousness though, is there anything to be had from aerodynamics if I don't have serious suspension? (Racelands 400 rear 350 front, only dropped about 2") with some chassis stiffening (planning on door bars, butterfly brace, strut bars) would I see any serious benefit from aero? Would Aero be worth doing before suspension?
I'm looking into the aero parts of my car after I finish everything I'm working on now. I'm inspired by that one dude's thread (home built front splitter out of plywood) though I want to use something a bit smoother and better looking than plywood. I like the idea of having it be adjustable, and I've worked out some ways to do this
Also, I want an adjustable rear wing. Through experience or having heard, what seems to work well for downforce? I'm not looking for MAD JDM DRIFTTTTTTT, I'm looking for a bit more grip in the corners.
In reagards to ebay crap, how is stuff like this:
NEW ALUMINUM ADJUSTABLE DOUBLE WING RACING SPOILER 56" : eBay Motors (item 350310767631 end time Feb-27-10 18:53:13 PST)
Is it pretty much useless because it's aluminum? I'm tempted because it's ******* cheap and it's adjustable.
Keep in mind that I'm not looking to make a serious race car, just something with a bit more grip in the corners.
Any recomendations/thoughts? Feel free to flame if this is a dumb-******* retarded thread, but I really don't know anything about aero and I'm looking to learn

uuuuuh, not sure where to start.
"that guy" is Savington I believe, who has a dedicated track car.
Are you looking to put this stuff on a street car? If so I don't think you'll be able to go fast enough to notice any difference, not anywhere near legal limits at least.
Technically any angled piece of material will create downforce. Hell, a 2x4 at the right angle will. The wing Sav has is the only one (I think) we've found for under $1000 (it's $800ish) that has downforce figures available. Everything else is just speculation without testing.
As you can see in the diy splitter thread, painted wood is the way to go, cheap, very strong, and fairly light. If I had money for a good wing to balance it out, I'd probably do something similar.
I don't know how your low end suspension will deal with more downforce, you sound a little low though. Keep in mind the lap time you take off with a wing/splitter/strut bar/door bars/frame rails/butterfly brace is probably completely negated by the 100+lbs you'd be adding. Assuming nothing else changes.

Mind you, I am planning to track this thing (Racing my Mother in her TT, don't ask), but it's also a street vehicle. I use this as a DD (except in rain/snow), so I don't really want to ruin it with weight reduction and such.

Well from what I've heard on here, I believe the door bars are the best, but they make the frame rails+butterfly brace pointless. And unless you're dumping big money into strut bars, they're useless too. I took my cheap ebay piece off, and although he's got a cage to help him get stiff, he doesn't have one either.
I'd also think a splitter would make your already very low car nearly impossible to drive on the streets without hitting stuff all the time. I can barely handle driving around with a number and a few stickers on my car. I couldn't imagine how red my face would be with a splitter and wing on the street.

I just got that bit about the 400lb rears. Is that a typo? I seriously hope it's 400 front, 350 rear. Which is a little steep for the rear, isn't it? If it were FM's spring ratio, you'd be closer to 500 front, if that makes any sense.
Dopple summed it up nicely, and I should have made myself more clear from the beginning, don't do this. Waste of time/effort/money, with little to no gains. Get some nice tires, better suspension and brakes, then you'll really start seeing a difference.
