Koni blue lowering springs
I installed the Koni blue lowering springs with my friend about 18 months ago. Right after the installation the car seemed to be too low in front. In addition the front left side was lower than the front right side.
After that I asked two car mechanics to check my car. No one could find anything wrong with the installation. My car has also the Koni Sport Yellow shocks. To get the both front sides in balance, we had to set front left spring perch in the top position. The other three spring perches had to be set in the middle position. The car was better but still too low in front. Now after two summers and about 6000 miles the springs seem to be collapsed more. You can see pictures here: http://s1176.photobucket.com/albums/x340/kurkonmavat/ I just heard that the Koni products are covered with 2 years guarantee but should I throw these blue springs in the trash and buy other springs? |
Am I really the only one who has had problems with these Koni blue springs? I have searched this forum and Miata.net forum but I can't find anything.
Could somebody please tell if these kinds of blue Koni springs have collapsed before or if they have had any other quality problems |
Buy some ebay coilover springs and start over for $50 and go from there.

every set of springs I've installed for myself or customers in the last 10 years has had these types of issues. are you sure the springs aren't supposed to be lower in the front compared to the rear? as far as lower on one side compared to the other, I always put the taller one on the driver side. helps balance the car when the driver is in it.

does that say 107 on the front spring, as in 107 lbs/in?

I did not notice that the other front spring would have been taller and there was no markings or instructions about this.

what do the markings on the rear say? (you can spin the spring if the tire is off the ground)

I have seen another car that has exactly the same springs and shocks. It looks very balanced. It is not low in front and high in rear like my car. The owner of that car drove my car and said my car feels heave in front.
