Loud "pop" on hard cornering
I'm getting a loud "pop" on hard cornering. It's not normally an issue as the car sees 99.9% of it's driving on the steet, but I tried to autocross today and was hearing it once or twice in a 35 second run. I uploaded a video where you can hear it at 8, 11, and 22 seconds into the video:
The car is a 2000 on bilsteins with coilover sleeves, racing beat sway bars and endlinks, 245 Hankook RS4's, and otherwise old, stock, 170k mile suspension/bushings/ball joints/eccentric bolts. I was hoping you guys could give me an idea what's my most likely culprit or what I should try first to eliminate the popping. |
Could be the sway bar bushings binding up
|
I hadn't even considered the sway bars, seems like that'd be easy enough to check out. Maybe an adjustment will clear it up. Thanks for the advise.

It's the eccentric bolts slipping, you need new bolts and an alignment..

^^ Exactly my thoughts. I had the same noise shortly after I had an alignment done a few years ago. The shop didn't get all the bolts tight enough.

Nothing to add other than you went off course through the finish.
I go to GCAC regularly. Hope to see the car there someday. All the turbo Miata cars I see are usually awful looking and would love to check yours out. |
