1: Prevent crankshaft from rotating.
2: Insert appropriately-sized socket onto breaker bar.
3: Apply socket to bolt.
4: Apply force to handle of breaker bar so as to rotate bolt counter-clockwise as viewed from front of car.
#1 can be accomplished by putting the transmission into 4th gear and fully applying the brake. If your car has an automatic transmission (which you didn't specify) then you'll need a special tool to hold the crank in place, such as this: Flyin' Miata : Miscellaneous : Tools : Flyin` Miata crank bolt tool/crank holder (You can also make this yourself from a piece of scrap steel or angle-iron which you have lying around.)

I'd go for the Rennmetal tool just because it works for both woman engines and man engines, and short nose crank cars as well.
