Miata Torsen vs. S2K Torsen??
Does anyone know if there are any differences in specs between the two? I know the MSM LSD is the same LSD as the S2K and that they can be interchanged. But, does the S2K have any performance gain over the Miata unit? (i.e. tq bias or lockup).
I'm getting tired of the inside wheels spin I am getting with the V710s on and popping $1800 for a OSG unit is not gonna happen right now. I would like to find something that will help out. Thought about the RX7 diff. but it seems that getting preload is a PITA and that it can a) still allow inside wheels spin and b) cause the car to push a lot at low speeds. Porkchopsandwiches? |

Well fluck. After HEAVY researching over "there", sifting through pages and pages of people talking about S2Ks and LSDs in general, I came across a few threads about the S2K diff and it seems everyone just says "it's the same" with no hard proof other than stating that 'Honda sourced the 7" LSD from Mazda'. Although Randy/solomiata, said the stronges Torsen to built involved using the S2K, but I suspect that's due to the larger splines being able to handle the power.
I saw mentions on working a Torsen to provide better performance, but not specifics about what it would take to do so. Dammit, why can't there be a nice 2-way Torsen with good lockup out there..... |

i have an s2k lsd for sale if you want one. it's in perfect condition. $250 plus shipping. my buddies s2k diff. felt like it engaged quicker than my miata torsen. and if i'm not mistaken, it won't spin the inside tire as easy when there's a light load on it.

i cant remember who it was but they were telling me that the S2K people will snag up our 4.10 R&P's for lower gearing in there torsens cause theirs are geared high. like 4.3 and 4.(somthing)
idk on the pros and cons of their diff's vs ours.... |
the stock lsd is a bit weak for serious hp apps...

The torsen in my MSM was way different than my 95 with a torsen. It would chatter leaving a stop light and turning. It also seemed have more consistant lockup, like shifting mid drift was no problem.
