Just want to add my $.02. I was having a similar problem with Gripforce f-1 6-puck clutch. I my case it turned out that the inner portion of the pressure plate was making contact with the outside edge of the sprung center hub of the friction disc effectively locking the two together. I ended up machining the outside edge of the center hub to allow clearance between the two. After reinstalling, worked like new, albeit much grabbier!:giggle:

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of not taking photos of what I did before reinstalling. But what I can do is take some photos of an XTR stage 2 clutch that I ordered as back up I case gave up on the F-1 Stage 3, to illustrate what I am talking about. After comparing the two kits side by side, I found they both used the same pressure plate just painted a different color, and also that the center hub of both friction discs carry the same part number. I do my best to post some photos as soon as I am able to.

i want to get this done for good. i am going to order new input shaft seals and also do the oil pan on the car and would like to put this disc that came in the kit. Back in the car when i do them. |
