MSM question. Stock MSM or Tein basic coilovers

Hey guys,

Quick question. I have a 2004 MSM with stock coilovers. I have a chance to buy a new set of Tein basic coilovers at a good price. Should I bother switching the stock units for the Tein units? I auto cross a few times a year, but basically a summer DD and toy.

Thank for the advice. I just don't know how the Tein basic coilovers compare to the stock MSM units.

Thanks,
Drew

if your billies are in good shape I'd say don't even bother. if anything throw some gc's on there and have a decent budget setup.

if they're not, or ultra high mileage, then id consider the teins. teh basics are more for a daily driver IMO, not anything to write home about, but a DECENT setup.

I did a bunch of research on them a while back, with mixed reviews. as long as you dont slam the car, and don't expect xida performance out of them, they're good. but your bilsteins are good shocks already, so I'd give it some hard though, since neither is MUCH better than the other, imo

I like the oem ones, but I'm looking to lower the car about an inch all around (not ghetto), definately not slammed. What are "GC". I wish the oem ones were adjustable.

ground control.

or you can get the fm springs..about .8" drop

I threw eibach springs on my factory MSM, slightly lower, much better spring rate. I picked them up from a local guy for $70 so I couldn't pass it up. Love them for the price.

If you can get the basics cheap enough they would be worth it just for the adjustability. You can always upgrade the springs on them. Otherwise like what 18psi said. You can opt for the fm ground control units on your oem shocks. In retrospect, I wish I woulda done that then my current setup.
