NA Tie rod uprade options?
i have a 97 NA and unrestricted access to a junkyard. only problem is i pretty much picked the 2 miatas they had clean anyways i need new tie rods or at least end links and i wasnt sure if there were any fords or other cars that people take tie rods or the ends off of to beef up the strength or even as oem replacements any help would be appreciated

The NA R package tie rod ends are considered an upgrade. They should help with bump steer.

Bryce, he is asking about tie rods. Not tie rod ends.
OP, can't help you. From what I understand everyone here runs stock ones. |

Basically, we don't have any tie rod upgrade options. Only tie rod ends have a factory upgrade. |
What kind of upgrade would you expect out of tie rods (and not tie rod ends)?

Is it caliber and not caliper or are we just talking car parts?

My only input is '93 LE or R cars had better tie rod ends. Supposedly helps bump steer. Regulars are strait shaped and the upgrades have kinda a hook shape. If someone could confirm that would be awesome. Don't know what other years/models have the hook rods.

So are the r pkg tie rods really worth doing or is it something you do if you need to replace your tie rod ends anyway?

These tie rod end ball joints originally came on the 1993 LE and 1994-1995 R Package but will fit any 1989-2005 Miata. They have a different angle to account for a lowered stance and correct for increased “bump steer," not to be confused with a "bum steer.” Installing these in place of the standard tie rod end ball joints will improve the steering feedback any lowered NA or NB Miata. We include new silver zinc-plated castle nuts, cotter pins, and jam nuts. Price is for a pair. |
