NB miata ebay axle back
 

Hi everyone, I recently purchased an eBay axle back on a whim and thought I would post my review here. I know naturally aspirated cars aren't the 'main' talk of the town around here, but people are always looking to be on a budget, maybe this review is helpful to someone.

The seller info is below here, it looks to be a speedy racer type clone. I paid $120 shipped to my door, made the order Friday, I received it on Tuesday.

Initial impressions were quite good. It was very shiny, which was what I was going for :rofl:

Inlet was about 2.25", and the actual outlet was 2.5", but the tip was 3.5". I think it fits the bumper nicely.

Installation took about 45 minutes, I soaked the exhaust bolts in penetrating oil 2 days prior to make it easier. Also, the exhaust gasket that came, the holes didn't line up, so I had to open the holes further to make it work. Still only took 45 for the entire install. Fitment was perfect.

Size comparison: I weighed this unit, it came out to be 15 pounds exact. Im not sure what the stock one weighs? 21-24lbs I think is what most people report? So its a small weight savings.

I will try to get video and upload later. First start up: WOW. I can actually HEAR the exhaust. It is much deeper with a little rumble to it. I have a CAI with DIY box in my car, so the intake noise is extremely loud, while driving the exhaust balances it out, so now I hear from the back and the front. I will be doing a HPDE tomorrow, so I should get 100 hard miles on the car to break it in and also get on the highway and see if there is any drone.

I dont believe there is any power to be made here, but this is a naturally aspirated car that won't see boost for a long time if ever, so a little deeper rumble and a nice shiny exhaust for $120 works for me. I had been waiting for a long time to get an axle back, but it was hard to pass up this to test at this price point. So far I'm quite pleased, Egay parts are not liked typically, but I dont drive in winter. I hope to get a few years out of this before the internals blow out.

So far I have no complaints on this. Fitment was perfect, no rattles, took the track day like a champ, no issues on the highway, so far I'm perfectly happy for 120 bucks.
