Huh, I wonder why I had such bad luck with this. Probably since the lowest part didn't fit in my 2.5" coil overs... Still, that I could have done, I guess I never tried very hard.

So yeah, I spent basically a day on the lathe making my own version of the FCM mounts. Huge pain in the ass. Fun, but still. :-)

y8s 11-23-2008 03:34 PM

yeah the 777 bumpstop cup is too big. better to order two of the 774 since they fit in the 2.5" springs.

Been using a similar setup to this except I used polyurethane sway bar bushings that I drilled and cut out with FCM bumpstops:

Guess I'll have to get some, and put my home made ones aside. Getting tired of riding on half of an aluminum thread anyway.

haha and cutting board HDPE spacers! that page is win.

Just to clarify, these are all I need and in order from left to right. Drill out the centers to accommodate the shock piston and im done....correct? Making sure because this is getting done tomorrow.

My setup isn't that DIY. I'm using FCM's bumpstop kits. From looking at SBrians2's FCM NB mount kit, what I did is right on par at a fraction of the price. PLUS I don't have to have a custom adjuster for my Koni's.

pic of my setup from the bottom:

Basically I have a washer/bushing/nb mount/bushing/FCM bumpstop washer/FCM bumpstop. The shanked nut locks against the FCM bumpstop washer so everything is pivoting thru the bushings. Minus the FCM bumpstops, I the setup cost me less than $65 (including the NB mounts).

I can't believe you guys haven't found that page before. I posted it on the pointy board a half dozen times.

FWIW, someone found open ended mag lug nuts that you don't have to cut. And if you use dished washers from the top of Saturn struts, they work even better. Get two per shock and orient them so they point towards each other.

AbeFM 12-15-2008 07:36 PM

I've seen open lugs, any idea where they are, who makes them, who sells them, etc etc?

Ben 12-15-2008 07:50 PM

that is correct. except of course the small parts all stack on the shock and the big rubber gasket goes on the spring right under the top hat. NBs also use a 14mm lock nut on top of the 17mm nut that you have. On top of the top hat is a plastic sheet that I presume prevents metal to metal contact between the hat and the body.

Anyone have a source for these in 10mm other than FCM????

AbeFM 12-16-2008 04:43 PM

Isn't that what he just posted?

Atlanta93LE 12-16-2008 05:25 PM

I never could find anything for 10mm shock shafts (i.e. Bilstein), so wound up going FCM.

deliverator 12-16-2008 05:34 PM

I just plain gave up and sold my NA shocks and springs.

Installing NB shock mounts is much more straightforward when you use... NB shocks.
