Yup

Just remember that if you keep the same gearing in the diff, you'll run higher rpm at the same speed in top gear.

Trying to overcome some loss of speed due to larger diameter tires and cost is not a concern.

Yup. The 1st gear ratio of the 6 speed is 3.760, whereas the 5 speed 1st is 3.163. Faster acceleration in first :)
But then again, you might lose some time going through gears since there's an extra shift thrown in there

Define faster gear? It is a shorter ratio. IE you'll be spinning more RPM for the same speed or 4000rpm you'll be going slower depending on how you look at it.

Define speed loss? Bigger tires tend to dial up the ratio and make the car faster at the same RPM and gear. Speed loss = acceleration?

Not much, but enough to feel it. Frankly I was surprized. Went to 205-60-15 on bronze url 15 x 7 rims. They do look good however.

I found a good six speed nearby. Going to pick it up tomorrow. Stopped by my local parts store to check on clutch kit and flywheel. They do not seem to differentiate between a five speed and six speed with respect to clutch parts and flywheel. Does this sound right?

Also, will I need to pull the engine to swap the transmisson?

Nice ride.

1.8 5 and 6 speed don't use different clutch/flywheel sizes. If you're planning on boosting in the future, upgrade to a stronger clutch now. Also replace bearings while you're in there. For the clutch job itself, search.

Thanks I understand everything except "bearings" I have done a few clutch jobs. I am thinking you mean throw out bearing? If so, my parts store sells the clutch kits with a throwout bearing and new pilot bushing as well.

Like I said I will be traveling tomorrow to pick up the transmission. I will be happy to send pics Thursday. However, I need your help a little bit. I have never attached a pic in a forum. If you could give me a little instruction it would help. The 205's. I did a lot of research and actually bought a used 205 before buying new ones and installing.

The suspension is bone stock. The wheels are URL 15 x7. The tires are Yokahma Avids.
I don't road race or drag race [street or strip] and do not drive "agressively" Under these circumstances. No problems whatsoever. Except as I said, I had a noticeable loss of zoom.
Thus the six speed. The ride is smoother and quieter. But you know if I really wanted that I should have bought a Cadilac. Just trying to fill up the wheel well and get my acceleration back.

As far as bearings go just get the FM happy meal if you can swing it. The lighter of the two is great. The wife even likes the clutch. Have the heavy version on the shelf too. No reviews yet.

The car will be kept stock. However, I have the front mazdaspeed lower aero and just last night bought on ebay a 2004 Mazdaspeed rear trunk lid with the wider turbo rear wing. So it is going to look like a mazdaspeed.

if you keep the engine stock just replace the clutch with a stocker
otherwise fm1 or fm2

If you get a Mazdaspeed 6-speed note that the shifter is a little different. You will need the original shifter or will need to shim a non-MSM shifter. There are threads about it here. Not a huge deal, but get the shifter with it to save some hassle.
