I have none of these things. Am I supposed to? For the last 3 years my brakes have had the pads sitting in the calipers with no issues. While installing my TSE brake ducts, I noticed my factory service manual does show them. However, I recall seeing somewhere that with the sport brakes, the springs were no longer part of the equation. I've searched but can't find where I read that. I had a talk with the dealership parts guy for a while today, he wasn't sure either. According to what his system was showing, in order to get the springs you have to order pads too - which obviously I don't want and is a waste of my money. We did end up ordering a miscellaneous hardware kit for the brakes which includes the clips (which I have) and the shims/backing plates for all of $8.

There are no springs on the NB sport brakes.

I hate to raise this thread from the dead, but I have hit a dead end trying to find sport brake shims. Where did you find that set for $8?

The dealership parts guy. Their parts lookup system is different/more advanced than what you can access through mazdaspeed.

You don't need the shims, however. You should just be able to put pads in and run them.

The only place I was able to buy them was the dealer and they only include them with a set of brake pads. Which is like $80. (Like previously stated) But you can find front ones at NAPA.

Rears {from NAPA} pn# UP 83159A
Napa also shows fronts as pn# UP 83637A

I ended up buying some normal NB brake shims and "modifying" them to work. Had 2 track days on it and casual driving with no problems yet.
