NC GEARBOX MODS

Hello friends,

my name is Don, I live in Israel.

i drive a turbo mx5 NC (2007).

my question is:

does anyone know where i can find a forged gearbox for my miata NC?

i am running prox 350 HP and am afraid that the stock gearbox will not manage.

please advice,

thanks alot

Don.

I don't know, but a question you are likely to be asked by people trying to help will be is it a 5 speed or a 6 speed?

There's not too many people running that high power on NC's. You may be better off looking for information about Caterhams/Super7's and such, since a lot of them use the 2.0L. From a quick search the only production-car transmissions that will directly bolt up are the NC Miata and Ford Ranger. But it sounds like there's companies that make bell housings to adapt others. Caterhams come with the option of a sequential box with straight cut gears, but that option is around £15,000.

i drive 6 speed manual.

i know that there aren't many NC's running over 250HP, im one of them.

i intend to buy a high Quality gearbox from a reliable manufacturer.

i know its big$$$ prox 7000 £ but worth every penny.

I am adding 4 pictures of Quaife's gearbox, can someone upload a similar picture of the NC 6speed transmition?

how can i verify that the gearbox of ford ranger is the same gearbox as the nc?

i heard that the mazda RX8 gearbox is the same as the miata NC.. any idea?

thanks for helping me

adding a Quick video of my NC turbo wet track drifting :)

You can open your search to include duratec engines since they're the same, and the ecoboost mustang should also have the same bell housing pattern. Like this one Duratec Spec Sheet would let you run a t5 or t9 behind your motor.

This is an NC thread... And I dont believe that tranny is rated for mega power.

Yeah i realize it's NC, but I saw that bell housing pattern and said WTF. I assumed it would be a good trans ('cause quaife) that no one knew about, for that other thread. HIJACK!

Tx Track NC with the 2.5MZR and gt3076 is putting down 394hp 380tq with the stock six speed. Just a surface treatment to the gears and put it back together. He did have an issue with the shifter adjuster slipping and just tacked it in place.

If you are going to be spending 7000£ maybe you could include the 5 speed from the NA/NB with Quaife gearset and bellhousing and PPF mods.

Might be just about as much work as anything else and it would be the lightest and possibly strongest option.

Which seems really surprising based on how much the mx5 cup guys complain about how the 6 speeds are made out of glass and they suck.

The same guys saying stock 1.6 brakes are more than enough for a track car or spec pinata...
