Polyurethane motor mounts
 

recently pulled my motor for a turbo install and general gasket/clutch replacement. When I pulled the motor half my motor mount stayed with the car, the other came with the motor. Found the reason for so many failed 2nd to 3rd shifts.

This car is a dedicated autocross car. I put 1100 miles on it last year with some street runs on HWY129 in Tennessee and travel to autocross events in the state. I don't really care about the NVH since I spend so little time in it. The car is around 1900lbs so you can imagine all the weight removal that needed to take place.

I am looking for a cheap solution and these popped up. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on them, one whom has personally had them on their car. I have had solid poly bushings before in a car but they were very built, these seem like they are susceptible to heat, especially with the turbo hanging somewhat close to them.

I've been happy with the Mazda Comp mounts, stiffer than stock, same construction.

I am not happy with mazdacomp at all, I actually just put ratchet straps across my motor to the strut bar to hold it still, because it flails around so much that my downpipe hits the floor, kathudadadadada...

They are less than a year old and only street driven. My downpipe used to only hit if I shifted like an idiot at WOT, now it moves enough to rattle on moderate power and fucked up easy starts.

I read they're a consumable item with hard driving track and autocross, but I expected more than a year of street life from them.

Engineering design failure. The through-bolt short circuits any isolation the urethane may give you with that design.

Go AWR if you only care about how it feels when driven in anger. Mazda Comp if you more care for how it feels when also used for general transportation on the street. Anything much stiffer than AWR is pretty much just stupid no mater how you use your car or how much power it has the vibration gets insane and it will rattle your car apart.

I have the Mazdaspeed ones (around 40% stiffer) than stock on my 1.6 and I never had issues with engine moving too much (but it still moves quite freely). And I can say there is no noticeable change in vibration either.
