power steering delete

Hey guys quick question for anyone caring to share. When i remove my power steering pump and depower rack by looping the lines, do I want to remove the fluid in the rack? Or leave it for lubrication? I've read to drain it out but I am nervous about lubrication issues, thanks.

it takes a little more than just removiing the lines.
you must take it apart and remove more stuff then welding some other

I've been searching you schmuck, I'm simply asking whether or not the power steering fluid is left in the rack when looping the lines. But thanks.

Pretty sure they all say to remove the fluid... and pack them with grease if you disassemble the rack.

Leave a little in for lubrication, but you want most of it out. I turned the wheel lock to lock about 10 times and then looped the lines. Steering is pretty stiff but I DD it and take it for 4-5 hour runs on the mountain roads with no problems.

Yeah just put the hoses into a bucket and turn lock to lock quickly to drain most of the fluid. You don't NEED to do it the 'right way'

i looped the 2 sets of lines and capped the two larger ports as per fm but didnt drain any of the fluid in the rack, it feels pretty nice, i have been driving around with just the belt off power about a month. much better.
