ACT 4 Puck to less pucks conversion
I got myself a used 4 puck for cheap, and I'm not sure if I want to run the 4 puck. I've heard that they engage in a binary manner, and mine looks to be fairly worn.
My question is, can I swap in a new friction disk? Like a 6 puck, or even a normal full disk.
I can get a friction disk for sub 200$, versus a full ACT setup is 300+.

I found an ACT full "dick" friction disk for a similar price to the 4 puck. I'll keep the 4 puck around, just in case I decide to go for teh lolz. My main question in this thread was if I could run a different kind of friction disk with the ACT PP that came with the 4 puck. Any recommendations for a Throwout bearing? The Goodwin racing one doesn't list a brand: Miata Clutch Throwout Bearing 90-05 for Miata

^just a warning, there have been some failures of the flyin miata hd bearing. I've had two fail on my car in 8,000 miles, and I've spoken to two others who had one fail under 10,000 miles. 18psi installed one of my tobs, so it's not install error.
I daily the 949 ceramic pucked clutch, and I hate it. If it didnt make noise, i wouldn't mind the hard/fast/tire chirping engagement, but having a loud squeeeeeeaaaawk every normal take off is really annoying and embarrassing.
I'm switching to the organic full disk when I swap transmissions.

So the TOB that we buy to avoid premature failure... has been prematurely failing? Guess i'll keep the ACT-supplied one in the car.
Oh right. The squeek. I have that if i hit at a certain rpm/engagement speed from a dead stop. I tend to not notice it. The rest of the car is pretty aggro. But yes, my wife might get annoyed by that in a street car.
