Problems fitting 1.8 brakes

Hey guys!

I'm upgrading my Miata brakes to 1.8 brakes but I've come across two problems... One is that I don't seem to have all the parts, and the other is that the pads don't seem to slide properly.

First things first. I got the 1.8 brackets off of an NA and discs are NB OEM discs. They should be just the same as the NA and I've checked they fit properly. I bought a set of Mintex pads for the front and they came with the so called squealers.

However, looking at this image I don't have the shims (B). I've fitted pads in other cars without them before. Can it be done on the Miata? Also, where do the squealers (C) go? Upon disassembling my stock brakes, they don't have the shims OR the squealers! Just the pads and springs...

Also, those small metal clips on the front caliper brackets don't allow my pads do slide properly. the outer pad slides in place, but the inner pad takes a huge amount of force to insert in the bracket, and always looks jagged, on both wheels...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, seeing as I'm out of brakes and this has become somewhat urgent...

you don't need shims. race pads don't have them.
the spring go into holes on the edge of the pad. there should be 2 holes on each pad.

I don't remember where squealers go but I *think* they are integrated into the slider things (the part that goes between the caliper and pad)

The springs aren't a problem really, the main thing is I don't have a clue where the squealers go, and I don't even know if it's normal that my current pads don't have them anywhere...

In fact, I so much as took the trouble to read through the Miata workshop manual I have here, and there's no mention of the squealers in the brakes section or in the blowout diagrams.
