PS "cooler" line took a dive, what to do?
Is low level PS fluid bad for the pump (asked he THE stupid question)?
Can I simply short the line, bypassing the "cooler" section for the time being? A buddy recommended using NAPA "transmission cooler kit" instead of Mazda line. - Good idea? Thanks. |
i just used a small tranny cooler from autozone for my subie to cool the PS i was boiling the fluid at autox and it fixed the problem
|
Thanks.
Easy job? Time? Would you ever boil the fluid while DD? Part#, by any chance? Where did you mount it? |
Obligatory de-power suggestion.
|
koto beat me to it. Sack up and depower that shit.

:)
Duly noted. Not planning on it, as the car is multi-function (DD& track& auto-x). ' sides, having driven a couple without ps, can't say that I like it. (at least on Miata) |
You can go to Jegs and take your pick based on inlet/outlet and size. Any cheap Derale would work.
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...teering+cooler Or get the Mazda OEM from someone here who depowered. |
There is always the fancy aluminum BEGi one... for $130
If I still had access to a lathe, I could crank these things out wholesale. Profit margin on these must be incredible. |
Factory non-PS cars feel completely different than a PS car that has had the rack correctly depowered. I'd never, ever go back to PS even on R compounds in autox. The feel is fantastic.
|
Saedrin: Would you recommend a factory non-ps rack or depowered rack, and why?
|
Depowered factory power rack. The ratio is higher on the power rack, and when you remove the seals and weld the shaft (har har) you'll have a direct connection with the perfect ratio.
