Question about 1.6 Diff Compatibility
I remember reading somewhere that the stub stafts of the viscous diff are different from the open diff, but I'm not sure if anything else is different.
Will the viscious diff + Stub shafts bolt up to the axles and drive shaft from the open diff car? |
If memory serves, the open actually has 1 long and 1 short stub. The lsd has 2 medium length stubs. I never tried to mis-match, but I suspect that there is a reason why the stubs are all different lengths.
The axles themselves are all the same. The difference is in how far the stub goes into the pumpkin. |

yeah I'm pretty sure they are

The VLSD has one big and on little. The open has two the same size. If you need a set I have a pair of each, from my collection of blown up diffs. And to think I'm not even boosted yet.

Yep. A complete assembly of VLSD diff and stubs axles can be swapped into a non-VLSD car using the original CV axles and propshaft, and vise versa.

thanks for the info.
I just trying to sell my old viscous diff, and trying to answer people's questions. btw, $150 shipped for vlsd in classified section!! |
I just bought my second one for less than $100.
VLSD at this point is no better than an open, and must people understand that. |
