Racing Beat Hollow for 1.6 fit on 1.8 NA

I read a couple of threads about the fitness of 1.6 front sway bar on 1.8 NA or 1.8 on 1.6. There seems no problem if we have adjustable endlinks

Anyone have tried 1.6 racing beat hollow on 1.8 NA with adjustable endlinks?

I am just worried about the clearance or interference with other stuff...

Thanks guys

Realize this is a stupid question (people read but no reply), but any one help with this, I am new here, quick answer fit or not will really help me ..
Thank you so much guys.

IIRC, the bars mount in different spots on the frame (forward vs rearward) and therefore have different length arms. I'm not sure but answering because no one else did.

I have the largest race RB bar on my 91 with 1.8 swap and it fits.

Are you using 949 racing or racing beat endlinks?
You can not get the 90 degree between endlinks and sway bar, right?

I notice someone adjust it backward and forward by making another holes on the mounting bracket..

Thanks for replying!

You're engine doesn't affect the sway bar mounting. The difference is the mounting points. So your engine swap makes no difference.

Yeah I believe I have the hollow NB bar on my NA.

Another option to consider is if you're planning to run a burly bar, replace your sway mounts for boxed units which often support both 1.6/1.8L configurations

Sway Bars : Reinforced Sway Bar Mounts

I have rod end links but I'm not sure of the brand since they were on the car. I suspect they are Spec Miata endlinks since in it's former life the car was a Spec Miata.

IIRC the end arms of the 1.6bars are shorter than those designed for the 1.8. I have an eibach bar on my 1.8 and the ends are too short and require me to have the endlinks set at a forward angle to reach the mounting holes of the sway bar.

Thank you so much guys, I ordered the adjustable endlinks and will see how it works, I will also cut the mounting bracket..

Totally unnecessary. The RB blocks that everyone else uses are cheaper, easier to install, and just as effective.

I wouldn't say totally unnecessary. The AWR mounts allow owners of 1.6 cars with 1.8 motor swaps to more easily mount 1.8 front sway bars in the 1.8 position to provide clearance for the AC compressor, which is needed in some cases. Without the AWR mounts, cars with clearance issues would have to remove and re-weld the stock 1.6 sway bar mounts in the 1.8 position. This isn't impossible to do, rather, the AWR mounts are just a more elegant way of doing it IMO. But obviously, this is a unique scenario and the RB blocks work well for the vast majority of folks, hence the reason why 949 sells them with their Big Grip kit and not AWR mounts.

Savington 05-05-2015 05:45 PM

If you want to move the bar forward to clear the A/C compressor on a 1.8L motor in a 1.6L chassis, then by all means use the AWR sway bar mounts. That's a different problem than the one I was referring to (big sway bars breaking unsupported OEM mounts).
