RB Aluminum Support Blocks

Are these suggested for the 1.6? For track use and DD duty.

They are most helpful for autox, but they can't help with the heavy lateral g's that are put on the car on track. That being said I have them on my car.

Have a great day,
Jared

I'm concerned w/ the mounts ripping out.

curly 03-30-2011 12:29 AM

They won't. Emilio says he runs them on all his track cars. Once you mount them, you'll see that they're clamped in there strongly, and there's not too much force on them.

If your worried then do it and forget about it. There is no reason to worry your self.

Have a great day,
Jared

Curly, Emilio says he runs what on all his track cars...the aluminum blocks? Or the RB bars?

I'm not sure what you're referring to.

He runs both together. Trackspeed crew does the same.

Do they use the brace as well?

I believe not. There was just a whole thread on this in the race section, here

Thanks didn't see that thread.

Adam777 03-30-2011 11:05 AM

cheap insurance, no reason not to get them. I'd rather spend the $30 than have to repair the mounts.

Braineack 03-30-2011 11:15 AM

I have the brace & blocks sitting in my trunk. I need the bolt thread pitch and lengths.

curly 03-30-2011 12:00 PM

Didn't come with the kit? The bolt thread pitch is the same as the sway bar bushing mounts. I could take it out in the next day or two and measure the length, I finally got my brake duct hose in the mail.

They're a pain to install btw, and I don't have around the radiator intercooler pipes. Plus you have to remove them every time you take a control arm out, which is what I do for removing the coil over.

Braineack 03-30-2011 12:13 PM

Im sure I could too but im lazy, the length what i need a better estimate of. I didnt get hardware with them.

Adam777 03-30-2011 12:25 PM

I'll be under my car in the next week to re-tighten mine. I can measure them if you like and are not in a rush.

Am running both on my car. No issues as of yet. However, my I/C is routed a bit abnormally...

OP picture is brace hardware (blocks). Not the brace itself. We always run the blocks, never the brace. Never found a need for the brace.

K20 Mini 04-09-2011 11:45 PM

I've run two season's with just the blocks and had no problems.
