Rear subframe brace installation trick?
I swapped differentials and got everything back together except for the rear subframe brace, it's mysteriously a tiny fraction too long to get both bolts in. Is there a trick to getting it back on? This is on my 93.

bumping, want to install a freshly painted one next weekend

Drive the car a few hundred feet, then install it. Raise the rear with ramps.

The rear subframe brace, should no depend on the diff in any way shape or form. Are you trying to put on the same brace that came off the car?
|
Yeah it was the same brace that came off the car, I only mentioned the diff because that was why I took the brace off. I drove around for days, and tried different ways of jacking up the car and none of it made any difference. I know I had the orientation right because the witness mark from where the tail pipe had hit it was in the right place.
I actually never did get the brace back on, barring some new trick that I don't know about I'll have to embiggen the hole slightly and i just haven't bothered. I've been daily driving the car for months this way. It is mystifying to me why it won't fit. |
Post some pics of the alignment fail, maybe that will help us
