Rt Rear caliper rattle

My Rt rear caliper rattles when I'm driving around. Braking is fine Pads don't move around. I can reproduce the noise by moving floating piece of the caliper up and down. It's as if the the pin bore is too wide. Do I need to replace the caliper, or is this something that sounds like it can be fixed. I found 1 thread from 2005 on m.net from a person with the exact same problem, however, no one answered the question. I'm getting ready to change pads on the car since the suspension is off. I don't want to buy a new caliper if it isn't needed. Thanks

I had a similar problem when I purchased cheap no name ebay pads once. It turned out to be the space of the pad that rides on the SS track was to wide and would vibrate. I have everything off right now and the calipers are being powder coated along with the valve cover. I ended up buying a set of Hawk pads and all new brake hardware. Here is hoping for the problem to go away. BTW, have you lubed the rear slider pins? Checked all the bolts? There is reallly not that muck to go wrong back there. Also check the little "M" springs that spread the pads apart, sometimes they go missing (or just one) and can cause the pad to rattle. Good luck.

-Cheers,

Jim
