Because you can beat your meat instead.

There are many ways to deal with adolescent frustrations.

matrussell122 04-23-2019 05:18 PM

Not sure what you guys are talking about. I have been commuting in my vehicle for years with roughly 500hp everything from nicely to spirited driving and the transmission has held up great.

I also daily a full size truck and not a miata so that helps.

I am actually taking the time to respond to this.

"Beat my meat," that really shows how juvenile this forum is. I wondered why I belonged here for 10 years before really posting..

^^ The fact I almost bought a turbo from this vendor completely validates my going my own way to build a car. I am a muscle car guy with a few GTOs, and they are crude compared, but I can turn a wrench. I really posted this question -- knowing I would get some flame from it, but wanted to get feedback (good and bad). How else do you possibly learn anything? I learned from dropping vales and not machining correctly -- or mis installation of a part. You do know that is what the purpose of these forums are right? To inform and give advice to people that don't have the experience, or are looking for information. Yes, man I knew before posting that you better have done your reading, etc. this forum is notorious about that (just search posting in miataturbo.net).

I'm going with the only positive information from this from concealer ^^ and rethinking my approach, but not thanks to your comments.

You can laugh, make shitty comments, or do whatever you want, you are actually narrowing the group of people that might be going with a Miata for fun which is a shame. That is shame for any genre of vehicles. I have had my moments of people asking me really ignorant questions (mainly because they are new to the fold) -- and I felt like WTF. But in the end I told them to do the research in XYZ and the get back to me.

As I said, I will remove this post and my membership in a bit, I hope that a few people see this and realize what a f-tard this is.

Learn to use your experience. It's not like it was a god given talent. We learned how to work on cars however we did. Some people are not as fortunate -- it's perfectly fine to tell someone to go research and come back, it's another to "beat your meat".

Well that escalated quickly.

Someone can't take a lighthearted jab very well. Says much more about you than the extraordinarily generous fellow who made the playful comment.

Lighten up, Frances.

Get the fuck out then. No one asked you to be here.

Lol.

He does act a bit like he considers this a paid service that owes him deference rather than a group of guys standing around talking about cars. Some of them are in their underwear, but it's a group of guys standing around talking about cars.

I've seen new guys gain huge amounts of respect after a single post on the forum and have likewise seen people prove themselves to be pedantic arrogant asses or intellectually bankrupt children in a single click. It is always up to them. Some people have great knowledge and poorly developed social skills and others have fantastic interpersonal relational capabilities and zero practical understanding. For most it is a mixture.

Generally speaking, when you walk up to a group of people who are standing there chatting prior to your arrival you introduce yourself and offer some deference to endear yourself to the group. Usually the smartest guy in the room doesn't walk up to a group and attempt to enter the conversation by seriously belittling those who are already there. Being wise and possessing an understanding of human behavior, the smart guy will not find it necessary to berate others for his own emotional security and will instead meter his interactions with an eye toward the future.

We could have talked about the 20+ years of GTO experiences from my own youth for at least a minute if he'd been conversational. He should have made a "Meet and Greet" thread introducing himself and his background and goals, possibly developing a repoire with the group.

Let's see what happens.

Since you apparently can't take a joke. No more jokes.
