rx7 TII diff swap
I have a question,i am planning on doing a diff swap from a rx7 turbo,i already have the diff, the axels, the only thing i miss is the wheel hubs!
But can i use the whole rear system of the rx7 on the miata? lower arm, upper arm controls disk and every thing, will it be a direct bolt on swap?? Thank you very much |
s
e a r c h the short answer is no: its not direct bolt on |
i now the diff is not a direct bolt on,
i wanna now if the rear lower and upper arm control from rx7 can be used on the 93 miata |
I would like to know why the hell you'd want to do that in the first place. The Miata suspension is, IIRC, better than the FC's. The diff is the only worthwhile part of what you have, I like mine. Swap the RX7 diff into the Miata carrier and you should be golden IIRC.

because a friend of mine, wanted to driff the car and hit the pavment, the car ended with, rear subframe bended wheels hubs bend, upperarm bend, rim broken,so i bought the car,and i can lay my hand on the full rx7 rear end, that's why i am asking!!

Good point, that I don't know.

the diff is not a problem,i can make fabricate and weld every thing my self!! because my upper arm control is bend i need new ones, but some one want sell me the whole setup and not only the rx7 hubs,i asking if i can use those of the rx7,to not go but something i can't use and he is not willing to sell me only the hubs because the entire system is whortless for him then

1)Learn how to spell and put together a sentence, unless you're out to get the Magna spelling/punctuation award.
2)If you can weld/fabricate you can fit ANYTHING onto ANY OTHER THING. |

OP: First, do what 18psi says and spend a little more time thinking out your posts to fix spelling and readability issues. They're currently very hard to read and that won't help us help you. 2nd, save yourself the hassle and just buy a complete MIATA rear end and put that in, it is indeed much better. If your friend wants to give it to you, take it. Then sell it. Then buy the Miata stuff. |

Why are you swapping to such a large carrier? If your staying turbo4, the 7 inch is enough. I'm not even convinced that the 7 inch would break with a V-8 inf ront of it...... Especially with 3.6 gears to lower the shock potential. |
Did the NA FC's have the clutch type diff to then?
|
A poor mans alternative to the Torsen is a clutch type LSD from the '84-88 NA RX-7. They will also bolt into the later 1994+ Miata housing since they are the same diff type (the 1989-91 RX-7 LSD will also fit but it is a viscous type, the earlier RX-7's had smaller axle shafts and won't fit the halfshafts). The OEM RX-7 clutch type LSD does have replaceable friction plates and is rebuildable. |
... Fucking 1.6 housing... Stupid open or viscous diff...
Thanks for the link, thats a good read. |
This my neighbor, Nursultan Tuleiakbay. He is pain in my assholes. I get a window from a glass, he must get a window from a glass. I get a step, he must get a step. I get a clock-radio, he cannot afford. Great success! = Miata Turbo FAQ: Differential

Even better read thanks.
Is there a place to find the part numbers for a 3.9 or 3.6 gear? They seem like they might be expensive to attain through buying the whole housing... |
That guy is from Curacao, so go easy on the language barrier. He is asking more about if the control arms fit than the diff. Do the control arms fit?
|
I thought the 7" diff was th weak link in the early Miata?? Hence my reason for getting the 8" as one of my first upgrades..
